Biomedical Research Lab (BRL)

• Design & implement research protocols to test new medical instrumentation
• Design, develop & evaluate personal protective equipment, life support apparatus, cryogenic breathing apparatus & whole body protective suits
• Evaluate environmental stressors (noisy and hot operational environments) & test countermeasures
• Remote physiological monitoring & instrumentation
• Checkout & verification of spacecraft bioinstrumentation systems
• Develop unique emergency medical equipment and communications equipment for flight crew rescue

Human Research Program (HRP)

• Provide programmatic & operational support of domestic & international research collaborations
• Customize research laboratories to support experiments & medical monitoring activities
• Evaluate & assess experiment requirements, protocols, safety documents; allocate resources;
• validate integrity of hardware & device systems; coordinate & execute payload activities
• Perform & support hardware integration, functional verification, testing & troubleshooting
• Support preflight & postflight experiment testing & medical monitoring on astronauts returning from shuttle and the International Space Station (ISS)
